Friday (July 8th) - A Rest Day in Casper, WY

After 9 straight days of riding since our first rest day, we needed a day off.  Casper, WY.   We have now journeyed some 1377 miles.   Riders need to wash clothes, clean bikes, pick up supplies (sunscreen, chamois butter, bike parts, etc),  get a massage, get some extra sleep....whatever works after 9 days in the saddle.   In my case, my dear family from nearby Denver came to town for the day.....Judi, Mike, Veronica and P-Nut.   So here are a few pics of our rest day:

Lunch at the North Platte Inn

Hangin' Out in Casper for the afternoon

Judi meeting riding partner Barry Lucas.  Barry was a famous surfer in his youth, surfing contest around the world.   He knew most of the great surfers of that time, including Donald Takiyama.   Judi, who grew up in Torrance, California near the beach, used to babysit for Donald Takiyama's children.   So instantly she and Barry had some things in common.

Dinner at Botticelli's, Caspers' Italian version of Buonarotis'

Saying Goodbye the next morning as the riders depart

A second goodbye on I-25 as family heads back to Denver.

All of you know how important our families are.   For me, it was just great to have a day in the middle of this ride with my dear ones.   I'll be home in 30 days or so.   This was a nice treat in the middle of the ride.

Love to All,
ME
