Day 14 (Sunday) - Pocatello to Idaho Falls (66 miles)

Today we had a great little ride from Pocatello to Idaho Falls.   We left early in the morning to beat the 90 degree heat and also were aided by a nice little tail wind.   We continued to follow the Snake River amid the great Idaho farm scenery (ie potatoes to the left, wheat to the right), dairy cattle,  irrigation systems etc.    We did manage to get a few new pictures.   Here they are:

7 am start - Dan on left carrying American Flag

Barry Lucas (my riding partner) in the saddle

Matt and Montreal Mike

ME with two riders trailing - like my orange helmet?

A piece of the Snake River we have been following for 5 days

The yellow roses of Idaho - matches Barry's outfit

These are floribunda roses like my mother grew in Camp Springs, MD, so we took a shot of me.

It got hot early in the day.   Here we are cooling of in irrigation sprinklers - how refreshing

While we were bathing, trip leaders Mike Munk and Karen Bauer catch up with us.

Treehouse on the Snake River

Here's the Idaho potatoes on the right, mountains in the background

The Snake River.  As we enter Idaho Falls, here  is the Snake River looking south.   See the lone jet skier and the mountains in the background.   What a site!

Idaho Falls, right in the middle of town, two blocks from our hotel.

Barry and I finishing a very enjoyable ride

Tomorrow is our biggest day so far crossing over Teton Pass (8500' altitude) as we roll in to Wyoming to celebrate the Fourth of July in Jackson Hole.   So far we have been 14 days on the road, we have done about 1,000 miles, and have seen Oregon and Idaho, two of our most beautiful states.   It's just great to be an American, to see our country on a bicycle, and to be able to celebrate the 4th in this way.   We're early to bed tonight for a 5:30 am start as this will be the longest day yet with the steepest climbs......88 miles and a 5,500' vertical.   Have a great 4th wherever you are.   More tomorrow.
Love to All,
ME
