Day 4 (23 June) - 65 Miles from Kah-nee-tah to Prineville, OR

We had a nice ride today in great weather, about 65 miles.   We are all getting ready for a long 117 day ride tomorrow with two steep climbs and a long downhill into John Day, Oregon.   The people here in Prineville (and other places we have visited) can't believe we are doing this bike ride across the country.   Sometimes I can't believe it either.   But were taking it one day at a time (even one hour at a time) and on some hills, one pedal stroke at a time.   Staying in the moment in this fashion is critical to enjoying these long rides.  Here are some pics of the day:

Jim and Jeff loading us up early in the morning (Lucy with back to Camera)

Leaving Kah-Nee-Tah Lodge at 6:30 am  (what a great place to stay, well worth a return visit)

Early in the morning.....cold in Oregon

Early Morning View of Mt Jefferson, (can u believe Western Oregon?)

Logging Trucks in Oregon......move over if you can!

Mt Jefferson in the Background.....The Cascades are a wonder of Oregon

Tracking along the River en route to Prineville

Other riders pass us (So much for stopping for photos, Ha :-)

Lucy has caught up with us and is enjoying the moment after a long climb (See the 3 sisters in the background)

This is a great part of Eastern Oregon.   We are now closer to the mountains (Mt Jefferson and the 3 sisters) and will see them up close for the next 2 days.

Here we are even closer to the 3 sisters on the beautiful back roads of Oregon.

And Mt Jefferson so close one can almost touch it  (Is this a view or what??)

Coming in to Prineville....after a long day in the saddle

Here we are in Prineville after 65 miles of riding today, anxiously looking forward to our long 118 Mile Ride tomorrow to John Day, Oregon.

And an irrigation system watering the crops with the 3 sisters on the Horizon.

Here we are at the Best Western, at our evening RAP session discussing tomorrow's long 118 mile ride to John Day Oregon.   Tomorrow should be a great day.

We'll post again tomorrow night after the long ride.   All the best to those of you following this blog.   I have lots of time during the daily rides to think of you.   Hope you are enjoying traveling along with me.

See you soon,
Love to All,
ME
